About Speaker

Gunasundari Marimuthu (Guna) is a Health Education Officer with over 12 years of experience in health promotion, currently serving as Senior Assistant Director at the Behavioural Insights Unit, Ministry of Health Malaysia. Since joining the unit in 2024, she has been at the actively involved in integrating behavioural science into health programs and policies. At present her key contribution is to the country’s first blueprint on behavioural insights for health. She is also engaged in cross-sectoral collaborations and capacity-building efforts across states and health professions.

Before her current role, Gunasundari spent over a decade at the Health Education Division, where she was involved in national-level health promotion campaigns such as the Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat, Bulan Malaysia Sihat Sejahtera, the National Health Screening Initiative, and the Let’s TALK campaign. Her strengths lie in health communication, policy planning, creative content development, and strategic messaging, skills that continue to shape her work in behavioural science.

She holds a Master in Health Science (Health Education) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and is currently pursuing her PhD in Mass Communication.

Passionate about innovation in public health, Gunasundari brings warmth, creativity, and a collaborative spirit to the Behavioural Insights Unit, a team she is proud to be part of as they work to drive meaningful, people-centered change in health.
