Sayyidi Hamzi graduated with a Bachelor’s in Biomedical Science from Managemen and Science University (MSU) in 2009 and later earned a Master’s in Medical Science (Pathology) from UKM, focusing on HPV genotyping in Malaysian women for vaccination approval in Malaysia. Then he continued his PhD in Medicine (Pathology) on comprehensive genomic profiling in ovarian cancer. Over the years, he has received extensive training in molecular genetics and genomics, immuno-oncology (PD-L1), embryology, liquid biopsy, and flow cytometry in the UK, Malaysia, Thailand, Spain, and the USA.

Currently, Sayyidi is the Senior Manager, Deputy Lab Director, and Senior Clinical Scientist at Reference Specialised Laboratory (RSL), Premier Integrated Labs. He serves on multiple advisory and technical boards, including panels for pancreatic cancer and academic programmes. He actively participates in national accreditation and quality assurance bodies such as the Medical Genetics Society of Malaysia, CAP, CLIA, MSQH, ISO15189, and MQAP.

His expertise encompasses setting up and managing molecular laboratories for solid tumours, liquid biopsy, cytogenetics, infectious diseases, digital pathology, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, such as CGP, TMB, HRD, WES, and others. A trained cytoscreener, he is also proficient in IHC and histopathology. Passionate about cancer research and medical genetics, he collaborates extensively on local and international research projects and has contributed to numerous publications and presentations.
