About Speaker
Dr. Rafidah Mazlan is an audiologist, lecturer, and researcher with a focus on pediatric hearing care. She received her PhD from The University of Queensland, Australia, and is currently attached to the Audiology Programme at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
Her research interests include early hearing detection and intervention, parental involvement in hearing aid management, middle ear assessment in children, and the use of digital platforms to support hearing care. She has led several studies, including the development of an online Hearing Aid Management (HAM) module aimed at improving parental knowledge and confidence in managing their children’s hearing devices.
In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Rafidah is involved in community-based programmes such as the Dangerous Decibels initiative in Malaysia, which promotes awareness and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss. Her work reflects a strong commitment to improving access to hearing services and supporting families and professionals involved in childhood hearing care.
