Dr. Zalifa Zakiah Binti Asnir is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Head of the Department at Hospital Cyberjaya, Selangor. She also serves as the Deputy Head of Ophthalmology Services at the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia.

Dr. Zalifa earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1998, followed by a Master of Ophthalmology from the same institution in 2007.

She is actively involved in blindness prevention initiatives both in Selangor and at the national level. A passionate researcher, Dr. Zalifa has presented her work at numerous local and international symposiums and conferences.

Currently, she serves as a co-investigator on the research project titled “Use of Artificial Intelligence (DR. MATA System) for the Detection and Intervention of Diabetic Retinopathy.” This groundbreaking project is focused on developing the first homegrown AI system for ophthalmology within the MOH
