About Speaker
Associate Professor Dr Adeline Chia is the Head of the School of Biosciences at Taylor’s University, Malaysia, where she leads academic and research excellence in the life sciences. She obtained her PhD in Molecular Medicine from Monash University. Her expertise spans molecular biology, biochemistry, endocrinology, regenerative medicine, and drug discovery, with a strong emphasis on diabetes, neurodegeneration, cancer, and natural product therapeutics.
As a principal investigator and collaborator, Dr Chia has spearheaded diverse projects including stem cell reprogramming for pancreatic beta-cell regeneration, exosome-based anti-inflammatory therapies, biomarker discovery for cardiovascular diseases, and anticancer peptides from natural sources. Her research excellence is widely recognized through numerous SCOPUS- and ISI-indexed publications, research grants, and national innovation awards, including the Anugerah Khas Menteri Pengajian Tinggi (2022) for curriculum innovation.
Beyond her university leadership, Dr Chia is deeply engaged in the scientific community, serving in key roles within professional bodies at both national and international levels. She currently serves as the Honorary Secretary of the Malaysian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (MSBMB), Treasurer of the Malaysian Biomedical Science Association (MyBiomed), an active member of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia – Young Scientists Network (YSN-ASM), as well as in global networks such as the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB). Her contributions in these associations reflect her commitment to advancing allied health sciences, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration, and strengthening international research partnerships.
Through her leadership, research, and professional service, Dr Chia embodies the
AHSC 2025 theme “Innovate, Integrate, Inspire: Sustaining Healthcare Through Allied
Health”, championing impactful science that bridges academia, healthcare, and society.
