About Speaker
Mrs. Nik Mahani Nik Mahmood is currently the Head of Dietetics and Food Services Department, Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah, Muar, Johor. She holds a degree in Dietetics from the National University of Malaysia (BSc. (Hons) Dietetics, UKM). With over 30 years of experience in the field of clinical dietetics in various clinical disciplines and hospital food services, she has involved in the establishment of several national dietetic services guidelines such as Medical Nutrition Therapy Guidelines for Critically Ill Adult and Standard Operational Procedures for Dietetic Services, Ministry of Health Malaysia. She was also invited as a member of the Review committee for Clinical practice Guidelines Management of Gout (second edition 2021) Ministry of Health Malaysia.
She also took part as technical working committee member for health education material publication under Plan of Action for Salt Reduction Strategy in Malaysia 2015-2020. Her interest and passion in the quality of healthcare food services has led her to advocate for innovation projects using digital meal planning tools. This application ensures consistency in sodium control across a variety of menus in the hospital meals complies with 2000mg sodium per day as per WHO recommendation.
